Have to do an edit for DrMaster, namely a SVC CHAOS: SNK vs Capcom, v.7.

This title is ridculous, insanely over-the-top fun.

Also, fucking hell ass shit fuck, my Tourette's is bad tonight.

So be it.

Maybe I'll also do another Five Questions tonight or a Photo Of My Life.

b
Sure, in real life she's snap in fucking half, but IRON WOK JAN is really a great read... )
I love that my editing boss for DrMaster sends me e-mails like this when I have a second wave of weird stuff to edit in a very short amount of time:

"Round 2! DRINK!
pages 66-125 up in like ~30 min, have fun, stay away from sharp objects and heavy machinery
"

b
Quote of the Moment from the manga I'm currently editing, Chinese Hero: Legend of the Blood Sword, v.3:

"Suddenly, the corpse explodes!"

Right, I'm partially dehydrated and my skin hurts from THE DAYSTAR IT BURNS!

Time to drink a lot of water and chase it with Pabst.

Emo Headphones Edition benjamin fucking loves winter.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is summer and 10 is winter, winter is an 11.

At that moment I was listening to "Snake" by Sister Machine Gun and feeling incredible.

And Emo Headphones Edition benjamin loves when people do things like this with only an inch of snow:

Tonight and this weekend I have five stories to work on, three of them with other people. Hell, there may be more, but I have GOT to take notes on these before they go away.

Also, have to edit Junk, v.2 for Monday.

FUCK!

Fell asleep on the couch--c.f. this--now have ONE night instead of TWO to edit v.23 of Iron Wok Jan. Which is 200 pages long.

Balls.

b
Can't Sleep Iron Wok Jan Will Eat Me

Editing work to do tonight and tomorrow night, expect little time spent in bed.

b
While riding the bus back from my New Comic Book Day trip to G-Mart, I sat behind a guy that I often see at the shop when I'm there.

He was reading this:

which I edited for DrMaster.

That was a pretty damned kick-ass feeling.

b
Very brief update:

No fiction done this weekend, but bagged and boarded a ton more comic, got three+ longboxes ready for [livejournal.com profile] city_of_dis to pick up.
Can't remember who claimed the PREACHER issues. Please remind me.

Also, edited an SVC vs CAPCOM: CHAOS issue for DrMaster that includes a dude called Earthquake firing a poisonous "lost ninja technique" fart at somebody.

Pics of stupid Tourette's Foot update... )

I really, really hope there's time for flashfic tonight, or tomorrow.

Oh, and I've got a Things I Can't Draw installment partway done.

And two requests for another FuckWithMyArt story.

We'll see...

Coming in at a swift "Nobody is stunned by this," I've completely decided to dodge grad school for Library and Information Sciences.

I got nothing against it, but with a civil service job at the University of Illinois library, articles getting published in Shonen Jump, editing manga for DrMaster, and working on my own stories/comix, there just wouldn't be time.

Well, there'd be time for grad school, but not for the stuff I really want to do with my life.

Wish me luck, kids. I've already got my running start, now I just need to figure out where to jump from.

Taking a page from [livejournal.com profile] man_size; here's what's on my plate, after I watch a movie with my wife and before I edit more of Rahxephon: The Novel: 4 for DrMaster:

IN PROGRESS:

In the basement of his secret laboratory, Professor Masatsune’s three children pace wildly, occasionally pausing to let out horrible mechanical parodies of sobs. The tallest one, Umaji, has become angry. Tiny rockets pop out from his fist, ready to provide thrust for a ThunderPunch to the concrete wall, but Hideki raises all six of his spindly arms in a desperate bid to stop his older brother. Hideki knows how much the Professor hates to see them express anger in unproductive ways.
On the stairs, Tomoko checks her abdomen for the eighteenth time this hour, a mechanoid OCD compelling her to confirm that she is still not leaking fissible material...

NOTES

Jan. 17th, 2006 10:25 am
A) New job at library started today, in which I will be doing everything I did with my old job. Bonus.
B) Sick as hell. Want booze, cannot have booze, am at work with no booze. Will have coffee slushie instead.
C) Just got MORE manga piled on me by DrMaster, which means money and 170 pages to edit by Thursday and about 110 pages left to edit in the novel they sent me. That one's due by Monday.
D) If you aren't reading [livejournal.com profile] atomic_robo--and I know you're not--then you should be. Bastards.
E) Stories are on hold until my nose stops producing toxic waste.
F) Looks like Shonen Jump will be printing two of my articles, AND I'll be working on a Topp Sekrit Projeket for them. I am The Bee's Balls(tm).
G) Where am I?

b
It's been a long time since I've actually felt a New Year like this.

In theory, my first published article (non-fiction, famous female pirates) will be in the issue of Shonen Jump that comes out this week...February cover date. Plus, based on its ass-rockingnessosity, I have another one finished, potentially for the March issue.

I've kept it hush from lots of people, but at midnight tonight, I'm no longer employed by the library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as the project I was hired for comes to an end. I have an exam on Tuesday to qualify for another position that SHOULD open up...but won't know the results for weeks, and won't know about the job for longer.

Still editing manga for DrMaster, but I have promised that "time off from work" really means "time on for writing."

I might have decided that I'm not up for grad school, prefering to shoot for library job and writing as my "real jobs." With luck and asskick, the latter will eventually be my only job.

2006 will be my bitch.

My lunch had bits of stomach and enoki mushromms in it and I am writing a Sir Reginald story, with *two* in the wings. Also have a volume of IRON WOK JAN to edit over the holidays.

Also, two weeks until (fingers crossed) my first published-for-money piece comes out.

Happypants.

Expect several posts tonight.

b
By Friday, I'll know for certain, but I might as well mention it now. It's close enough that I doubt I'll jinx it. If I do...I know who to blame: me.

Anyway, it's a VERY short piece (350 words) on three historical female pirates, for this magazine here:

That's right, not only am I editing manga for DrMaster Publications, but I'm also about to get paid for a one-page piece in the magazine that prints manga like One-Piece, Naruto, YuYu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more.

And, to put a fucking cherry on top, after some e-mails with the EiC of Shonen Jump last night, he assigned me another piece, on the basis of the quality of my LadyPirate piece.

I never said I wanted to be a writer; I said that I was a writer, and that I would be published.

Boom-shaka!

b
Who hearts all of you, and is ready for his goddamned close-up
New Sir Reginald story on its way, once I finish editing Iron Wok Jan for DrMaster.

Today's quote is from [livejournal.com profile] farawaypoints: It was not them, it was [livejournal.com profile] tightropes and I've got brain damage:

"The new thing is whitening my teeth. I told my friend "Hey, if they're gonna be big, they should at least be white." White enough to blind; big enough to fend for themselves in the wilderness and white enough to blind."

Smooches, kidz...
Went to brain doctor. Will pick up new pills after work.

Need to plot some stuff, then edit the fuck out of the third Rahxephon novel for DrMaster. Novels pay three times as much as a plain manga, but take AT LEAST three times as long.

Fudge.
