DO YOU LIVE IN CHAMPAIGN-URBANA OR NEARBY?

If so, okay, yeah, you want to go eat at the new Yellowfin Restaurant.

It's a part of Lee's Oriental Mart, right next to the IGA on Kirby.

Delightful Korean and Japanese food. Amazing sushi.

The hamachi (yellowtail) MELTED in my mouth like warm fish butter.
The shiro maguro (white tuna) was delicious and gentle and lurrrrvely.
The tobiko (flying fish roe) was crunchy and tasty without being overwhelming.

I sound so pretentious.

Great miso soup, the tea is that delightful green tea with puffed rice in it, the Korean appetizers we had were delicious.

Lovely Wife Sara ate a piece of octopus without knowing it, and she loved it! She doesn't even like seafood!

For a main course she had vegetable tempura and I had nabeyaki udon.

The service was fantastic, the staff is ridiculously kind and polite, the ambiance was peaceful and the music soothing.

You want to eat there, you just don't know it yet.

Well, NOW you do.

I debated for a long time, and I think that, rather than Japanese, I'll learn Mandarin.
In a perfect world I'd learn Cantonese, but it's supposed to be one of the hardest languages in the world to learn.

Besides, more people speak Mandarin than any other language.

I'll prolly start a night class in the fall.

Any advice from anybody?

My Spanish sucks.
This is not, however, news.
At work, I try to work bits of it in wherever possible, but it ends up just sounding silly. My Spanish-speaking co-workers think it’s sweet and giggle when I tell them, “Esta noche es aburrido. Lo ciento.” Everybody else things I’m saying something about nachos and burritos. It seems that I can’t win.
I want to learn Japanese, too, but I figure one language at a time, right?
Besides, I took three years of Spanish. Eleven years ago. From a total of five different teachers. So I’ve got some practice, right? Relearning it shouldn’t be too, bad, right?
And Spanish will come in much handier in real-life than Japanese. Wait a minute. “Much handier?” Should that be “much more handy?” Should I be certain that my English isn’t for shit before tackling another language?
Fuck me, did I just say “relearning” a few sentences ago? Is that even a real word? Did I have a point to this?
Oh, right, yeah. In any event, Spanish will help me at work, will help me communicate with the fabulous friends I have at Orkut for whom it is their native tongue, and it looks good on a résumé.
I suppose I should write something good after I drop this steamer into the web.
Anyway, if you speak Spanish, help me out here. Lord knows I’m gonna need it.
Arigatoyo.
I mean, gracias.
Ah, fuck…
