"Thank you for your feedback, and I'm very sorry that this is affecting your experience. Yes, there is a practical reason for the reason that the number of tags has been limited. Due to the way that tags are stored, accessed, and used, single users that have a large number of tags create a strain on LiveJournal that can affect other users and their ability to use the site. I understand that this limit is frustrating, and I do apologize for the inconvenience, but at this time it is not possible to increase the number of tags per user, even if this increase was available only to Paid Account holders."
Shenanigans.

"Was there a warning sent out that I missed?
It just seems like rather an extreme thing to spring on us out of nowhere.
I've been using LieJournal as a springboard for my professional writing career and its done wonders for me. I'm published now, several times over, and I like being able to direct people here and have them go through the entire catalog of things I've put up.
Now I feel pretty cheated. Is there even the vaguest of timelines about when you might be able to lift his limit, or is "at this time" going to be there in perpetuity? I thought that the 6A/LJ team-up was going to continue to bring us improved interface and usability, not drop new rules on us without any warning at all."

No response to that yet.
