Note two:
Movies like Pale Flower (Japan, 1964) make me ache. And I find it hard to explain to people WHY that's so.
I don't just WANT to travel back in time, I *HURT* with a need to go to these places, to see the world as it once was. Japan in the 60's, Hong Kong in the '80's...I see these things in films at it HURTS me to see it, I want to be there, walking at night, flashing neon signs around me, the old cars, all of it.
Sometimes it makes me feel a little crazy. Crazier, I suppose. And I'm okay with that.
I don't know why they do this to me. But they do.
