benchiladaIt doesn’t work anymore.
I can’t speak Spanish
To people from Mexico
To people from Ohio
To people from Champaign.
I once “learned” French.
Now it’s gone as well.
I keep saying that I’ll relearn my Spanish
And then I’ll learn Japanese.
But that will not help
When I need to speak in Swedish
Or Cantonese
Or Catalan.
Right now
I only speak English
And hypothetically.
A good sentence in English is:
I consider my English skills to be above average.
Hypothetically, a good sentence is:
I will learn Spanish and then Japanese.
I want my Spanish back.
But then,
Who doesn’t want something they’ve lost?
After I lost my virginity
I went back to where I last had it
But it wasn’t there.
