"Ready for the solution? basically your ipod's hard drives are mechanically damaged or malfunctioning. I have been a tech guy for a few years and have fixed tons of ipods with this issue. Unfortunately you need to take apart your ipods to remedy this issue. The clicking noise in the hard drive is a loose part (the one that spins). The easiest way to fix this is to take off the metal back of the ipod with a prying tool (very easy, just slowly pry open the case with a very small screw driver starting at the side with the headphone jack.) and put a folded business card over the hard drive(fold no more than once unless you have good reason because too much folding will keep the hard drive from spinning because of excess pressure on the case of the hard drive). and reclose it starting by putting in the side with the apple data port first then lowering in the side with the headphone jack. make sure the case clicks closed and plug in your ipod. the card will put a little bit of pressure on the case and often fixes the clicking noise because it keeps the loose part from wobbling around inside the hard drive case. hopefully your ipod is now fixed. If the noise continues your hard drive cannot be fixed by conventional means and needs to be replaced. Hope this makes sense, I already fixed mine and am enjoying my music. " -- PhatMike016
