So, Sara's mother, Edwina--known to pretty much everybody as Eddie--used to have active disdain for recycling, throwing glass containers in the garbage--at places that didn't have recycling, mind you--even after Sara and I volunteered to take them home with us.
She's gotten better, inasmuch as she'll let Sara and I take them home with us. Beyond that? Not so much.
We have a neighbor whose son wrote a song for his mother entitled "Mother Hates Recycling", and I thought we could all riff off of that concept.
Sara and I did a stanza:
"Eddie and recycling do not mix,
This is something that we cannot fix.
Empty box of Trix, just throw it away.
Listen, the environment has had its day."
We'd love to hear from y'all on the subject--poetically / lyrically / musically of course--and would especially love to hear any of you record a brief song on the subject. Feel free to use our opening, feel free to ignore it. You don't have to do a recording, but it would be awesome, even if you're just doing a poem.
There will be prizes awarded.
They will be dispensed with the prizes I promised some people about a year and a half ago. Seriously, I need to mail about 141 packages and I'm actually making progress.
Oh, and if anybody can find the entry where I mentioned how people who commented would get prizes (I have an LJ Seek thing on my profile page) then...umm...you'll get a prize too. I think I even promised some old comics to some people a while back, too.
God I'm a dirty enema bottle.
MUSIC CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE.
Or at least the contents of Eddie's garbage can.
Love,
b
