I had never actually met [livejournal.com profile] city_of_dis before today. Well, I’m sure I’ve met him several times, since I saw his play Jupiter’s Only Moon almost a decade ago, and he knew my dear friend and former roommate Clarissa Novales, and I just know that our paths have crossed before, but today was the first time I could look him square in the eyes and say “You’re the man now, dawg!”

Okay, I didn’t actually say that. I promise. When I was at the gas station four blocks from my house, though, and heard a firm yet kind voice shout “benjamin sTone!” and I turned to see that sexy face and fabulous red and blue anime hair, I must admit that I shouted “Living fuck!” and pointed at him as though he had a remora stuck to his cheek.

That was an ugly sentence, and I’m going to lock it in the basement again.

In any event, it was terribly fun. I have no sense of shame or embarassment, I don't think he does, either, or he would've been terrified by my public shouting of obscenties. “I’m Marc-Anthony Macon,” he said, as though I somehow wouldn’t have recognized his terribly recognizable face. I fear that, in the next moment, I may have violated his personal space. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that he’s not big on things like hugs and such from people he doesn’t know. If so, then my use-the-handshake-to-pull-the-person-into-a-hug move may have been unwelcome.

If so, M-AM, then I apologize.

Especially since I then said something about “parading him around” and introduced him to Sara. There was a shared “I think I used to know you at one point” moment between the two of them, and a brief discussion of road trips. [livejournal.com profile] city_of_dis is roadtripping to New Mexico with a friend, and he breathlessly told us of how he’s never seen a desert before. We were on our way to Chicago to deliver a table, visit Sara’s family, and tomorrow we’re going to Chinatown to shop and eat and I’m doing some work on Sara's parents’ computer.

Chinatown notwithstanding, I think New Mexico wins.

It’s was really nice, though, to have on of those “I only know you, really, through LJ, and now we’ve run into each other while both on our way out of town and it’s awesome” moments. Thanks, M-AM. We put the mix CD you gave me (* See Below) in the player and listened to it on the way to Chi-town.

UNRELATED: I have two stories that I desperately want to finish. Can somebody ask life to back the fuck up for a bit? Please. I'm tired of the role I've had for the last few weeks, that of beleagured guy who claims he writes but doesn't actually do it. I do write. I swear. Ask around. Rummage through the LJ. Just...

Just bring me some freaking booze. And not the pale, weak beer they have in the fridge here.
