Heard about that whole Time Magazine cover kerfluffle? My Robot--aka fairyarmadillo--has made a great graphic to help people understand why they're getting so upset over one vague and misleading example, and how they can fight confirmation bias simply by being aware of it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just type "time magazine cover egypt" into The Googles.
Maybe another piece will be needed to explain that even the guy who has to decide whether to sell his handmade shirts at the Farmer's Market or the simultaneously-occurring Arts and Crafts Fair uses target marketing, which is what Time Magazine is doing.
Please look at all of the images before reading the text at the bottom, and always bear in mind that 80% of TIME's distribution and readership is in the United States.
( BIG image, but totally worth your time. :D )The image can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nadja_robot/6431422625.
Now go share with your friends. Together, we can beat confirmation bias.
Well, I know that I can.
;P
Love,
