I've always contemplated getting a tattoo, and ever since checking out an awesome book on tattoos in Russian prisons I've been thinking about it even more.

While I wouldn't want one of the prison tats--like this one:



...which "shows the spelling of a man's name, Vasia, in Cyrillic characters. The symbols on each finger have specific coded meanings: "In life, only count on yourself," is the meaning of the symbol on the first finger, and the three skulls on the third finger symbolize murders committed by the criminal."

And I wouldn't want an ad for a casino on my forehead:

...and I definitely wouldn't want one like the infamous forced Katie's Revenge tat:



I've always thought about getting the Seal of Rassilon tattooed on me, and the Sinestro Corps symbol is quite suave, but the whole "Oh hai I have a tattoo that's the symbol for an evil murderous intergalactic gang of bastards who are all about instilling fear in everybody" bit seems a bit dodgy.

I really do like the idea of geeky tattoos that only other geeks would recognize. You know, like when I wear my Multiple Man shirt.
