The Cleveland Clinic, which runs a hospital in Weston and a new outpatient health center in West Palm Beach, will no longer hire smokers, the company announced today.

The world famous health institution will require all job applicants to be tested for the presence of nicotine in their urine. Starting Sept. 1 applicants who test positive for tobacco products will be referred to smoking cessation programs and be allowed to reapply in 90 days.

The smoking ban does not apply to current employees.

During July and August, the company will begin testing new employees for nicotine, but a positive test will not affect an applicants employment status.

DISCUSS.
But no namecalling. :)

Edit:
SERIOUSLY! Quit being jerks Quit being contrary just because you can be. We're here to discuss, debate, and even politely  argue, NOT to insult people. That next comment you're about to make? Stop. Reread it. Step away, get a beer, reread it. Step away, eat a peach, reread it. IF IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE YOU'RE BEING A WEENIE, THEN GO AHEAD AND HIT POST.

EDIT THE SECOND:
Thank you for playing. You don't have to go home but you can't sleep here.
Look, before you comment on my previous post, read the edit.

I trust you guys to know when you're crossing a line, or just trying to apply "rules" to the discussion that simply aren't there or don't apply.

I understand COMPLETELY how easy it is to get more and more involved with each comment you make/read, and how it's easy to let things get away from you on the internet, say things you wouldn't say to somebody in person...at least not the way you say it online.

But above all, I believe in y'all, especially in your abilities to be nice.
