These characters have been sitting in my brain for a bit.

I think they might belong in the Serge stories. Or maybe they're just silly. Perhaps I just enjoy the idea of conceptual control.

------------------

They live beyond the speed of words now.

Of what use is sex when the word orgasm, as a concept, is more powerful? Where is the power in murder, if merely thinking “gun” is enough to do the deed? Why would you need money if the world rewrites when you need it to?

They are The Two, and they live faster than you can think.

When you are alone, they are the fleeting figure you see out of the corner of your eye. Sometimes your house creaks when they are near. When you have good luck, it’s because of something, somewhere, that they’ve done. When you have bad luck, it’s the same.

There is no such thing as serendipity, there is only The Two.

They harness the power of iconic imagery, of the cult of concept, of the mind as both unstoppable force and immoveable object.

They cannot change a sink into something it’s not, but they can modify it into an ontological representation of what a sink “is.”

Although they move quickly, do not think of them as fast. They travel through the space between the space between seconds. They are already where they need to be.

They are not omniscient, they are not gods, but they understand how people can see them that way. They cannot, however, explain to you why they are not.

Good and evil are beyond their perceptions, because they are one and the same when seen through their eyes. They love each other as much as two people who know what “love” is can ever hope to.

Sometimes they need other people, for reasons they rarely explain.

But they will never say thank you, because you already owe them enough.

------------------
EDIT:
I think they're balls. The concept (HA!) is there, but I think they're balls. Fuck.
EDITED EDIT: After some spaghetti, garlic bread, and rum, I don't think it's balls. I think it needs tweaking, and I even think I know where they fit into the Serge story, as much as I have done of it, that is. Also, [profile] ronebofh was right, so you'll now be reading a new ending.
